// about

we build exits from
rented ai.

the exit looks different depending on who you are: an open-source verified memory layer for developers, a controlled shared-memory pilot for teams, or a human-installed private ai for someone who wants it working without a terminal. the common rule is that the durable state stays portable, inspectable, and under your control.

we teach it, then we do it

we'd rather you understand local ai than just buy it. the guides are free and honest, enough to do the whole thing yourself. most people read them, get the gist, and decide they'd rather we just set it up and keep it running. either way you win. that's the point.

why the domain

because the category got sold to death by calm corporate voices, and it left normal people thinking ai means handing your life to three companies and a data center. it doesn't. the name is the point.

the honest part

the big clouds are genuinely better at the hardest stuff. we're not going to lie to you about that. but most of what you actually do, day to day, runs great on your own machine. we help you keep a cloud option for the rare case if you want one.

how we make money

the guides and the diy tool are free. you pay us to set it up, or to keep it running for you every month. that's it. no ads, no reselling your data, no upsell maze.

who we are

fuckbigtech.ai is operated by kinetic labs inc., a small ontario company. one operator, no vc, no growth team breathing down your neck. we'd rather have a thousand people who own their ai than a logo on a billboard.

the canadian part

cohere co-founder nick frosst calls the other side "large, expensive, proprietary and hegemonic." we're the opposite on every word: small, open, and yours. canada is writing a national ai strategy and ottawa is finally regulating the platforms. local ai isn't just private. it's homegrown.

what we actually install

no magic, and no lock-in. the engine that runs models locally (ollama), a clean chat app that looks like the one you already use, and the best open model your machine can handle. plus homestead-memory, so it remembers you, and it can catch it when that memory rots. the difference from doing it yourself: we pick the right model for your hardware, lock down every privacy setting, and hand it to you working, in about an hour.

the diy tool

prefer to do it yourself? our open-source tools are free and honest. homestead-memory, the verifiable memory layer, installs with pip install homestead-memory (it's live now at /lab), and the guides walk you through the whole local-ai stack. no accounts, no key uploads, nothing leaves your computer.

stop renting your mind.

we'll set up a private ai on your machine this week. you keep your data, your memory, and your money.
